Guoman and Thistle Hotels appoints Head of Leisure Sales

04 September 2007

Richard Bantock has been promoted to head of leisure sales and e-commerce for Thistle and Guoman Hotels, after joining as national account director in January 2006.

Richard is one of the most experienced sales managers in the industry with almost 20 years experience in the sector.

His career began at Queens Moat House as a graduate trainee manager. He quickly moved into a corporate sales role at the Stratford upon Avon hotel focusing on developing and growing conference and associations business.

His first national sales role was in 1993, responsible for 103 hotels in the Queens Moat House portfolio, before moving into further group wide roles.

In his current role at Thistle and Guoman hotels, Richard is responsible for a team of four national account directors developing and building leisure business across the 41 strong hotel portfolio.

Richard said, "Thistle and Guoman Hotel's strong presence both regionally and in London is ideal for the leisure market. We aim to drive business in middle and premium customer segments from both the UK and key overseas markets.

"We will continue to work closely with online travel partners and FIT providers, as well as tours and groups to develop this important market segment."

Sales Director, Ian Thomas comments, "Leisure business is an important sector to Thistle and Guoman Hotels, therefore we are delighted that someone of Richard's calibre and experience will lead the leisure sales team."

Richard lives in Coventry, enjoys gardening and is a member of the National Trust.
