Hotel group's faces of the future

Exceptional employees at UK hotel group Guoman and Thistle Hotels have graduated from the groups first ever excellence training programme.

The Front Office Excellence Programme is a management training programme designed to provide high level training and development for its front office managers.

The course which started last July has finished its first year with seven managers graduating. Each one had to undertake a demanding nomination process, presentation and interview in order to be selected for the high profile course.

The programme involved seven key modules including recruitment, finance, revenue, sales and marketing, leadership, coaching and IT. The students were also reviewed at a monthly meeting with individual goals set, and after three months each student was assigned a mentor.

The graduates celebrated their success at an awards ceremony at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London on Thursday. Guests were treated to an individual presentation by each graduate, revealing their personal achievements and future goals.

Sacha James who runs the academy was recently honoured with an Acorn Award for outstanding achievement in hospitality, she said: "This is the first year Guoman and Thistle Hotels has run such an intensive, high level internal training programme specifically for front office managers. It is important that as a business Guoman and Thistle Hotel's level of service is consistent throughout each hotel, but also that we recognise really talented individuals and nurture them into advocates of the brands."

The Front Office Excellence programme is now recruiting for its second year of intakes.

In addition to the one year front office training programme, Guoman and Thistle Hotels continues to offer an industry-leading two week intensive induction course for all new front office staff at the Front Office Academy.
