Press Release Date: 01 Feb, 2011

What better way to celebrate Prince William and Kate Middleton’s romantic union than treating yourself to a quintessentially English afternoon tea treat with a royal twist – launching at London’s AA Hotel of the Year, The Royal Horseguards this April.

The grand five-star hotel presides over the River Thames and is located literally moments away from where the Royal Procession will take place. It’s the perfect spot to relax in style and indulge in a limited edition beautifully crafted Royal Wedding afternoon tea menu, fit for a Princess.

The hotel’s inventive Head Pastry Chef Joanne Todd has handcrafted the truly British menu in honour of the young couple.  The celebratory regal tea experience begins with a Sapphire Earl Grey Tea, playing homage to Kate’s beautiful and unique rock, whilst the mouth-watering selection of sandwiches includes organic cucumber, coronation chicken, Welsh rarebit, king prawn and Scottish smoked salmon.

Sweet treats with a royal twist follow, including: an adorable miniature rich fruit royal iced wedding cake, English Rose cupcakes scented with Duchy Estate honey, the Queen of Puddings; a delicious combination of berry compote and custard crowned with meringue and William and Kate heart-shaped buttery sable cookies. Those with a sweet tooth will also love the twist on the classic wedding aperitif, Kir Royale; a blackcurrant liqueur and champagne layered jelly, or one may wish to indulge in a dreamy Eton Mess surrounded by a curl of Valrhona white chocolate or perhaps, the velvety Felchlin chocolate royale, served on a chocolate and pistachio tartlette.

In traditional style, the regal afternoon tea menu is served complete with scones, Cornish clotted cream and English preserves – all for the princely sum of £32 per person.
