The Royal Horseguards Hotel invites guests to get into the sporting spirit with new SporTea Afternoon Tea
With less than 100 days to go until the greatest show on Earth comes to town, Guoman Hotel’s historic five-star The Royal Horseguards Hotel has revealed it will be offering an exclusive limited edition SporTea Afternoon Tea menu.
Conceived by the hotel’s talented head pastry chef Joanne Todd, the athletics-inspired tea has been designed to mimic the quintessentially English afternoon tea but with a fun sporty twist.
The special themed tea can be enjoyed in the hotel lounge or on The Royal Horseguards stunning sun terrace overlooking Embankment Gardens and the London Eye - a perfect spot to sit back, relax and think about our Great British athletes battling it out whilst you take in the view.
The SporTea Afternoon Tea includes a selection of energy packed pastries from around the world including:
- British Wild Strawberry oatcakes - Energy super food of elite athletes and weekend warriors alike
- Asian Coconut rice – Carbs to recover from a long run or grueling workout
- American Chocolate Whoopie Pie
- Australian Apricot cake – A natural sugar boost to jumpstart those intense training sessions
- African banana bread mousse
- European Napoleon cake
- And to top it off, finish your feast with a decadent selection of Lucozade cupcakes – the perfect pick me up after your marathon Afternoon Tea
The SporTea Afternoon Tea will be available from 27 July until 12 August 2012 at Guoman’s The Royal Horseguards Hotel priced at £35 per person.
The Royal Horseguards was recently honoured with a prestigious Award of Excellence from the Tea Guild’s Top London Afternoon Tea Awards. The Tea Guild, a prestigious and strictly invitation only collective from the UK Tea Council awarded The Royal Horseguards the honour after confirming the hotel’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of afternoon tea service.
